S/Sgt Palmer F. Schuetzle graduated in 1940 from East High School. He was employed at the Rath Packing Co. during high school and thereafter.

He enlisted in Des Moines, Iowa on 7 March 1942 and was sent overseas in March 1943 and was part of his unit since the operations in Sicily.

He was in the group which captured Ste. Mere Eglise three hours before the main Allied invasion on 6 June 1944. The mayor of the town asked that the decoration of Fourrageres Francaise be given to them.

S/Sgt Schuetzle was killed by a sniper.

S/Sgt Palmer F. Schuetzle first buried at Temporary the American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
