More information

Pfc Lee E. Shawver enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 18 June 1942.
Pfc Chet Harrington, one of the Company A medics, was called upon to come to the aid of a trooper, Pfc Lee E. Shawver, who had been seriously wounded by shrapnel. His right leg was off, his left leg was shattered below the knee. "Sgt McIntyre and I pulled him back, carefully. We put tourniquets on him. But he went into shock, and we couldn't save him. I felt bad about losing him. I had known him since Sicily."
