Cpl Robert E. Coddington enlisted in Toledo, Ohio on 9 November 1942 and was sent overseas in April 1943. He participated in the campaigns of Africa, Sicily, Italy and France and was wounded in Italy.He was known as being a good trooper who was often found on patrol in no mans land or enemy territory.
He was initially buired at the Canadian Military Cemetery of Nijmegen, the Netherlands from which he was disinterred and evacuated to Margraten on 28 July 1945 where he was reburied in a temporary grave the same day. He was given his final resting place on 31 January 1949.
