Alvin S. Miller worked on a farm.

He enlisted in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania on 24 November 1942 and trained at Camp Maxey, Texas, in Louisiana, at Camp Swift, Texas and Camp Dix, New Jersey. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

The New Berlin American Legion Post 957 is named Benfer-Miller in honor to two hometown boys who lost their lives - Pfc Alvin S Miller being one of them.
