Pfc Frank J. Wojniak graduated from the Morgan Park Military Academy in Chicago in 1941.He was attending the University of Chicago when he enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on 30 October 1942.
He was killed during a heavy enemy artillery barrage while waiting the arrival of assault boats to cross the Ruhr River.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for voluntarily leaving his sheltered position to administer aid to wounded men pinned down by intense enemy fire.
