More information
Robert Hull attended college and was a policeman. He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in San Francisco, California on 9 January 1942.
The bomber crashed in an attempt to make an emergency landing after it was damaged by a German FW-190. When the bomber hit the ground, it turned over and was set on fire.
The entire crew of ten men was killed and initially buried near the edge of the pasture.
The bodies of Hull, Durrance, Coleman, Johnson and Griffin were reburied at the American War Cemetery Ardennes in 1946.
Robert Hull's remains transfered to the American War Cemetery of Margraten a few years later at the request of his family so he could be buried at the same cemetery as his brother, John W. Hull.
His other brother Marion Hull was in training for navigator when the war in Europe ended. He wasn't sent to the Pacific due to the loss of his two brothers.
They are both remembered at the Dunsmuir City Cemetery in Dunsmuir, California.
