John Ashmead graduated from Roosevelt High School.He entered the U.S. Air Forces in October, 1942, was commissioned at Hondo Field, Texas in December, 1943 and was sent overseas in February.
A/C 42-29939 was attacked by German fighters and crashed into the Baltic Sea not far from the island of Bornholm, Denmark.
