More information

Sgt Robert Z. Haase was employed at the Allison Engineer Company before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 28 October 1942.

During the mission, the bomber was attacked by enemy fighters, causing two engines to fail. The aircraft eventually broke apart in mid-air over the Black Forest and crashed near Dittishausen.

S/Sgt Edgar J. Weislogel:
The plane went into a spin. He could not jump out because the tail and waist doors were jammed. The Germans claimed there were three bodies in the wreckage of the airplane and he was one of the three members.
