Pvt James T. Podojil graduated from East Technical High School and attended one year at Case School of Applied Science (now Case Western Reserve University). He had been employed at Aluminum Company of America. (ALCOA)

He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 8 April 1943.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
