Harry H. Friedman was a student at Georgetown Medical School in Washington D.C. when he enlisted on 16 October 1940.Capt Friedman was on board of the CG-4A glider with serialnumber 43-39970. Ir was released over the Landing Zone S at 11.16 hours and was last seen as it entered the smoke over the landingzone and was not observed after that.
Pilots of other gliders, who returned, had no knowledge of what had happened to the pilot and co-pilot of this glider, or of the glider itself.
On board were two crew members Pilot 1st Lt Paul L. Hurney and Co-pilot 2nd Lt William J. Niland and three passengers of HQ Battery of the 155th Airbrone Anti-Aircraft Battalion and medics. None of them survived the crash.
