Cpl Willard A. Mackey attended high school for one year and was employed at the local plant of Noblitt-Sparks Industries before he enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 14 November 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1944.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest and head.
