Cpl Wyatt J. Combest worked on a farm before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 16 November 1942.

He received a shrapnel wound to his shoulder on 20 December 1944 in Luxembourg but recovered and returned to his outfit. For this he earned his first Purple Heart.
Cpl Combest was killed by artillery shell fragments.
