Cpl Russell E. Parris worked on a farm before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 16 November 1942.

He was wounded in action on 16 November 1944 because a landmine exploded under the vehicle he was riding in. He died from those wounds a week later in a military hospital in France.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
