More information

T/Sgt Frank W. Holland was a clerk before he enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 28 February 1941.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously. The citation reads: T/Sgt. Holland was platoon sergeant and acting platoon leader. On 8 January 1945, the 319th regiment was stationed northeast of Dahl, Luxembourg, and had dug into foxholes. They had high ground and the Germans wanted to take back that position. Then, in one fatal second, T/Sgt Frank W. Holland, rose from his foxhole. He intended to go towards the company command post, when he was hit by shell fragments and died instantly.
