Pfc McLendon M. Martin worked on the family farm before he enlisted in Richmond, Virginia on 22 September 1942.

He was married to Louise Johnson on 6 May 1944.

He was reported severely wounded in action and brought to the 39th Evacuation Hospital in the vicinity of Vertusey where he died of his wounds.
