More information

2nd Lt Arthur H. Wartman Jr. was a salesman before he enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 10 June 1941.

2nd Lt Leroy G. Zweigel:
“Just after we had bombed our target at Budapest, Hungary, an enemy aircraft seemed to make a hit against A/C #084. I saw the ship, which had been flying the number six position in the lead flight begin to lose altitude steadily, and then finally go into what looked like a vertical dive. I followed the plane down about 5000 feet, when I lost sight of it.”

S/Sgt Joseph E. Kennedy:
“I suppose 2nd Lt Wartman was killed in the plane.”

He is remembered at the Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery in Whitemarsh, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
