More information
Sgt George D. Meyran Jr. graduated from Hempstead High School and was a private detective. He enlisted in New York City, New York on 10 August 1943.
2nd Lt Robert P. Mitchell:
On 25 April 1945, I was flying in the same flight as A/C #448776 which was piloted by Lt. Stresky. While the formation was over Linz, Austria, and just before bombs away a burst of flak struck his ship in the bomb bays. Immediately the plane went into a steep dive and began to flame. It was apparently out of control, as it crashed into the ground and exploded. Two parachutes opened. The time was 1247.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery St. Avold, France.
