More information

1st Lt Arthur L. Miskend was a clerk before he joined the Regular Army in New York City, New York on 27 October 1942.

Statement from 2nd Lt Robert P. Mitchell:
"On 25 April 1945, I was flying in the same flight as A/C #448776 which was piloted by Lt. Stresky. While the formation was over Linz, Austria, and just before bombs away a burst of flak struck his ship in the bomb bays. Immediately the plane went into a steep dive and began to flame. It was apparently out of control, as it crashed into the ground and exploded. Two parachutes opened. The time was 1247."

1st Lt Miskend bailed out over Linz, Austria. Civilians might have shot him.
