Pvt Charles S. Tynan was employed at the United Parcel Service before he enlisted at Camp Upton, New York on 17 March 1944.

He was reported lightly wounded by artillery shell fragments from which he died on the same day.

His brother, Clifford H. Tynan, is buried at the American Military Cemetery of Henri-Chapelle, Belgium.
