Pvt Richard G. Tucker was a foreman employed by Carnegie Illinois Steel Co. before he enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 3 July 1942. He was trained at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, Camp Phillips, Kansas and Fort Dix, New Jersey before he was sent overseas in July 1944.

On 21 September 1943 he was married Joan Hudzik.

He was killed by small arms fire in the thorax.
