Sgt George W. Edge worked on a farm before he enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 13 October 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments at his forehead and face.

His brother, Pvt Ernest E. Edge, was killed in action on 18 May 1951 in Korea.
