During an attack by Hauptmann H. Frey of JG 26 both right engines were destroyed. Nine crew members bailed out and were taken prisoner. Only S/Sgt McGee was killed. According to Germand records, his body was found in the wreckage. According to other German reports, he bailed out but his parachute didn't open.

At the "Smalspoormuseum" in Drenthe, one of the engines of the airplane is displayed.
