Edward Cordts enlisted 20 June 1942 at Ft Jay Governors island, New York.

Flak was relatively meager until IP was reached, then it became extremely accurate. At this time, Lt Denton in a/c 42-30225 "Mister Yank" was hit by two burst at Aurich, one at the left wing and few seconds later at the right wing at which time nr 3 engine cought fire. The plane exploded. Over the target and over the RP, the Flak was very intensive and accurate. The planes had to fly through this barrage type of Flak.
