S/Sgt Gerard A. Stimmel was employed as a bellman at the Hotel Plymouth.He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in New York City, New York on 20 July 1942.
The airplane was shot down by German fighters.
Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, five men were killed.
S/Sgt Stimmel was initially buried at the cemetery of Rotenburg, Germany.
