S/Sgt Richard L. Shott joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Columbus, Ohio on 26 July 1943.
The airplane had received a direct hit in #3 engine. All men believed to have bailed out after the aircraft had been hit over the battle area. Of the nine men crew, seven could return to Allied lines. Two men were killed.
