T/Sgt Ira L. Mooney was a shipping and receiving clerk.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 13 December 1941.

The airplane was hit by enemy aircraft. It was seen in flames and descending in the target area.

One crew member survived and was taken prisoner, six men were killed.

The pictures of T/Sgt Mooney were taken during the period when he was assigned to the 388th Bomber Group.
