S/Sgt Herman G. Moening was a former Stivers and Parker Coopreative student and employe of the Master Electric Company.

He enlisted on 28 October 1942 and was overseas since September 1943.

The airplane was hit in the nose by flak and n° 3 blew off. It exploded and crashed. Six crew members were killed, four were taken prisoner.

S/Sgt Moening was initially buried at the POW Cemetery in Elsgrund-Döberitz on 24 May 1944.
