2nd Lt George J. Beys graduated from El Paso High School in 1933 attended Texas College of Mines and was a chainman before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas on 25 November 1940.

Both his parents were born in Greece.

The airplane was hit in the nose by flak and n° 3 blew off. It exploded and crashed. Six crew members were killed, four were taken prisoner.

Lt Beys was initially buried at the POW Cemetery in Elsgrund-Döberitz on 25 May 1944.
