Peter M. Cunniff graduated from Cambridge High School and Latin School in 1942. He was employed at the National Biscuit Company.He joined the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 18 November 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts.
The airplane was attacked by German fighters and blew up in mid-air. Only four crew members managed to bail out before the explosion and were taken prisoner. Six men were killed.
