Cpl William R. Yorio enlisted in New York City, New York on 15 April 1943.

The airane was hit by heavy flak and left formation in the vicinity of Antwerp, Belgium.

Cpl Yorio could bail out but his parachute failed to open.

Statement from Sgt Walter Linton:
"Sgt Hollingshead (waist gunner) saw Sgt Yorio's body after landing. This was learned when both Sgt Hollingshead & myself were taken prisoner. Apparently his parachute failed to open."
