T/Sgt Robert H. Buckley graduated from Everett High School in 1940 and attended college.He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Seattle, Washington on 3 January 1942.
The airplane was attacked by German fighters.
One engine was knocked out, and another was smoking.
Nine crew members were taken prisoner.
T/Sgt Buckley was the only casualty and was initially buried at the cemetery of Beilen as Unknown. It is believed he was killed by machine gun fire from the attacking fighters.
