S/Sgt Donald R. Sliff was employed at Hemet News.

According to crew members of other airplanes, the plane exploded in mid-air.

According to S/Sgt Soltau, who survived the crash, S/Sgt Sliff was knocked unconscious by ammo-cans from the upper turret and he was caught in the explosion.

The killed crew members were initially buried at the Jewish Cemetery of Hoya on 10 May 1944.

Together with his brother, T/Sgt Lawrence Sliff, who is listed on the Walls of the Missing at Margraten, he is remembered at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery in San Jacinto, Riverside County, California.
