S/Sgt Howard F. Boxman graduated from Columbus High School in 1940 and was employed at the Reeves Pulley Company.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 31 October 1942.

The aircraft hit by flak and blew up while crossing the coast over Coxyde, Belgium.

One crew member survived and was taken prisoner. Nine men were killed. They were initially buried at the English Military Cemetery of Coxyde, Belgium.
