Sgt Reed L. Brotzman enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 2 March 1943.

He was married to Shirley May Whipple on 4 November 1943 in South Dakota. Both were graduates of the Laceyville High School. His daughter was born on 16 August 1944.

A/C weaved around after apparently being hit by flak. It feathered #2 engine and left formation. It then joined another formation until it was lost sight of.
