Clyde Loomis graduated from North High School and was employed by the Wilson Company before he enlisted in July 1942. He had been overseas since January 1944.

The exact circumstances of the crash are not known, probably the airplane was shot down by flak.

The pilot, co-pilot and bombardier were killed and buried at the cemetery of St. Pierre, Amiens on 8 July 1944. The other three crew members were taken prisoner.
