Robert B. Munson, Jr. graduated from Boulder High school in 1941. He attended college for a year before he joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Pueblo, Colorado on 14 December 1942.The aircraft received a direct flak hit in the cockpit and was seen to crash and explode one mile south of Bonefeld, Germany. One parachute was observed to come out of the waist window.
Five crew members were killed, one man survived and was taken prisoner.
The picture was taken in high school in 1941.
