Lt Gaudette joined the Regular Army in December 1940 and was initially sent to Alaska in January 1942.Returned to the states to enter training as an aviation cadet, Lt Gaudette was commissioned in August 1943. He received advanced training as a B-26 pilot at Del Rio, Texas and was an instructor for six months in Shreveport, Louisiana., before embarking for the European theatre in June 1944.
He was killed in an airplane training exercise accident.
