Lt Gaudette, who was killed just two days before his 25th birthday, entered the army in December, 1940. He trained at San Antonio, Tex.; Salt Lake City and Lincoln in Nebraska, before going to Alaska in January, 1942. He was promoted to staff sergeant while in the Yukon.Returned to the states to enter training as an aviation cadet, Lt Gaudette was commissioned in August, 1943. He received advanced training as a B-26 pilot at Del Rio, Texas and was in instructor for six months at Schreveport, La., before embarking for the European theatre in June, 1944.
George Gaudette died after WWII in an airplane training exercise accident.
