S/Sgt Philip L. Brinson attended high school for two years. He was employed at Luby Chevrolet Company.He enlisted on 3 July 1942 at Camp Blanding, Florida.
The airplane was hit by flak over the target and turned for home, but went out of control, and disintegrated prior to crashing into the North Sea. The entire crew of six men was killed.
S/Sgt Brinson is remembered at Saint Augustine National Cemetery in Saint Augustine, St. Johns County, Florida with a memorial marker.
