More information

S/Sgt Rodney D. Hines graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1940 and was associated with his father in the coal business.

He enlisted on 5 November 1942 in Columbus, Ohio and was sent overseas on 3 December 1943.

B-17F 42-3462, piloted by 2nd Lt Morris R. Marks, was last seen going over the target. The aircraft crashed in Zegveld, a few miles north of the town of Woerden, the Netherlands. Two of the four engines were not running, one left and one right, so the aircraft was flying pretty slow, and it probably couldn't keep altitude anymore.
