More information

T/Sgt George B. Murry graduated from Central High School in 1940 and attended the University of Tulsa for one year. He was employed as a clerk at Skelly Oil Company.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 9 November 1942. In April 1943 he graduated from radio school in Sioux Falls, North Dakota. He received his sergeant ranking and wings when he graduated 31 May 1943 from the aerial gunnery school in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Crews of other airplanes in the formation spotted this airplane for the last time in the vicinity of 5238N-0620E. At this point the group ran into intense flak and concentrated enemy fighter attacks. To avoid the flak the lead aircraft took violent evasive action which scattered the formation. In the confusion the whereabouts of this aircraft remained unknown.

The entire crew of nine men was killed.

T/Sgt Murry is remembered at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma with a memorial marker.
