More information
2nd Lt Robert W. Sager graduated from Appleton High School in 1940 and attended Lawrence college. He enlisted in the air corps in June, 1942 and was sent overseas on 1 July 1944.
There is no eyewitness available who saw the aicraft leave formation. No one will specifically claim seeing the aircraft over target but those crews in the same squadron "believe" he was in formation at "bombs away" position - at least they didn't notice any vacancy. During release and after rally, nothing was seen of the aircraft, nor was there any radio communication with it.
