Pfc Robert B. McAlpine Jr. enlisted on 19 May 1944. He received and completed his basis training at Camp Wolters, Texas.He was awarded the Silver Star Medal for saving the life of a comrade near Arloncourt, Belgium. During this action he was wounded for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.
He was shot in the head by a German sniper.
