Lt Green was graduated from Langley High School and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police and later a policeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Pittsburgh. He was the father of an eigh-week-old son whom he had never seen. Lt Green was based in Italy.On February 1944 a formation was on a mission to bomb installations at Steyr, Austria. Lt. Samsa, who was piloting ship 41-29213 fell out of the element and went down out of control. Other crews observed two chutes leave the ship. The time was approximately 1210 hours. The altitude about 21,000 feet. The Pilot Lt. Samsa and Top Turret Gunner B. Breneman bailed out and spent the rest of the war in several POW camps. The rest of the crew were buried on 16 May 1944 on the southern slope of Gruenauerberg, 150 meters northeast of the so called Trauenbichler-Holzknechthuette.
