Pfc John Terleski Jr. was a driver before he enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 27 August 1943.He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: As a member of an engineer squad that was pinned down by enemy fire from a pillbox, Pfc Terleski sacrificed his own life in order that the task force could attain its objective.
