Cpl Arthur F. Turnquist graduated from Roosevelt and Vocational High School and was employed at the F. W. Woolworth before he enlisted in October 1942. He was sent overseas in January 1944.

He was killed by a sniper while engaged in removing a road block that halted advance of his column.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
