1st Lt James Patrick Kenny attended Fordham College in New York and was a police patrolman when he signed up with the Army Air Force.Lt Kenny was shot down on his 59th mission. He needed 65 missions to complete his time in ETO. It was a bad day for the 416th and is still referred to - by surviving veterans - as "Black Sunday".
Statement from 1st Lt James R. Colquitt:
"Plane received direct hit in left engine. It burned and he pulled off on to the bad engine. No chutes seen."
