S/Sgt Philip G. Fild attended West Technical High School and was employed by the S.K. Wellman Company.He enlisted on 2 February 1943 at Cleveland, Ohio.
The two crew members on this aircraft were 1st Lt Robert R. Svenson and S/Sgt Philip G. Fild who are both from the Cleveland area.
The airplane was hit by flak on the bomb run. It left the formation with the left engine smoking and went down into a dive.
S/Sgt Philip G. Fild was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
