1st Lt Jack J. Burg attended high school for 4 years and was a clerk. He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army in Chicago, Illinois on 14 March 1941.The plane took direct hits on the bomb bay and
left engine. It went down just after opening bomb bay doors.
According to a grave report of Feldgendarmerie Trupp a (mot) 648 of te 3 Fallschirmjäger Division, Jack J. Burg was taken prisoner and died during an American artillery shelling of Valender. He was initially buried at the army cemetery of this village next to the church.
The other crew members were killed in the crash.
