1st Lt Kalmer Nyordet graduated from State Teachers College.He was married to Louisa Stoll on 3 August 1941.
He enlisted in June 1942 and was commisioned in April 1943. He was sent overseas in February 1944.
He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously. The citation cited: While Lt. Nyjordet was directing the fire of his tank platoon of a column of enemy vehicles forming for a counter-attack, his radio failed. With no thought of his own safety and without hesitation, he dismounted from his tank and under heavy artillery fire and mortar fire, went from tank to tank and personally directed their fire. His action resulted in the destruction of the enemy concentration but cost him his life."
1st Lt Kalmer Nyjordet was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
He is remembered at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, Traill County, North Dakota.
