Pvt Louis J. Kordelski was employed at the Swan River nursery in East Patchogue before he enlisted at Fort Jay, New York on 8 April 1942. He was sent overseas in February 1944.He was seriously wounded in action by artillery shell fragments on 14 November and died in a hospital on 18 November 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
